Mount Kenya Triathlon

Pilot Edition Mount Kenya Triathlon – November 2025

The first-ever Health Yetu x Abdi Nageeye Mount Kenya Triathlon brought together twelve participants, supported by guides, cooks, and porters, for four demanding days of swimming, mountain biking, and hiking to Point Lenana (4,985 m). The pilot edition raised €37,209 and marked the launch of a new partnership with the Abdi Nageeye Foundation for 2026.

Four-Day Endurance Challenge – Mount Kenya, November 2025

In November 2025, Health Yetu organized the pilot edition of the Mount Kenya Triathlon, a four-day endurance challenge combining swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and running in one of East Africa’s most demanding high-altitude environments.

The event brought together participants, local guides, cooks, and porters in a shared effort that combined physical endurance with fundraising to support Health Yetu’s medical outreach programs in Northern Kenya.

The challenge and route

Starting at Sirimon Gate, participants cycled 10 km to Old Moses Camp (3,300 m) on Day 1. Over the following days, the route crossed rugged alpine terrain, with participants hiking and running at increasing altitude toward the summit of Point Lenana (4,985 m).

After reaching the summit, the team descended toward Lake Michaelson, concluding the challenge with a final 5 km run to the bandas. The multi-discipline format tested endurance, adaptability, and teamwork across extreme terrain and conditions.

Participation and fundraising model

The pilot edition brought together 12 participants, supported by 3 guides, 3 cooks, and a team of porters. Each participant committed €3,000 toward Health Yetu’s mission, resulting in a total of €37,209 raised to support integrated medical outreach activities.

Outcomes and partnerships

Beyond fundraising, the Mount Kenya Triathlon marked the launch of a new partnership with the Abdi Nageeye Foundation, establishing the foundation for an expanded 2026 edition of the event.

The success of the pilot demonstrated the potential of endurance-based fundraising initiatives to generate sustainable support for healthcare delivery in remote communities.

We are so proud of our 12 participants, supported by 3 guides, 3 cooks, and a team of porters
